  • Product Description

This 1970s Slingerland Classic Rock Kit is a truly spectacular kit. A wonderful sounding kick drum, five toms and a deep Slingerland Radio King 14" x 7" snare drum, makes this kit a great choice for anyone who wants to re-enact their 70s rock classics. However it is not a one-trick pony as shown by producer Ben Hillier who uses it on most of the records he makes and recently took it on tour with artist Nadine Shah. To get the best out of this kit we enlisted the help of one of the leading alternative rock mix engineers in the world - Alan Moulder.

The Slingerland kits were first made in 1928 as a response to Ludwigs manufacture of Banjos which Slingerland had been distributing. The Slingerland brand of drums was owned by the family until 1970 and then the Company had multiple owners. Today they are owned by Gibson. Slingerland's most famous line of drums was the Radio Kings and we have included a Radio King snare with this kit. You will soon understand why. The rest of this Slingerland is from the 70s when the Company was having its heyday. It is an amazing sounding kit with it's large drum sizes and extremely versatile.

To get the best out of this kit we brought in one of the best mix engineers in the world - Alan Moulder. Alan is Britain's premier alternative rock producer / engineer working flat out in the UK and USA since the 1980's. Alan has worked on some of rock's most iconic records including Nine Inch Nails, The Killers, Foo Fighters, Arctic Monkeys, Led Zeppelin, Jesus & Mary Chain and Foals. Alan won the Brits Producer of the year award in 2014.

The Slingerland kit was recorded in Miloco's The Pool and mixed in Assault and Battery 1 by Alan.

In Depth

The All Samples Pack contains the Multi-velocity pack, Single Hits Pack, Drum Replacement pack and as a bonus we also include 2529 seperate mic samples taken from the no longer supported Kontakt 5 Pack (Please note we do not include the Drumdrops Kontakt Instrument in this pack). You basically get all three packs for the price of two and some bonus samples.

Customers can also make their own patches from the two packs of samples included. Included in this pack are the samples from the old Kontakt 5 pack (separate close, overhead and room mic samples) and the stereo mixed samples found in the Multiple Velocity pack and Single Hits Packs. The 400 stereo samples are mixed from the close, overhead and room mics. We have also included 2529 samples from the old Kontakt 5 pack providing up to 16 velocities of each articulation and 3 round robins. This pack is perfect for those who want to purchase all three packs in one hit or those who like to build their own patches from the samples.

The Multi-Velocity pack  provides up to 16 velocity steps of each articulation. Each sample included in this pack is a stereo mix of the close microphone, overhead and room mics. This pack can be used in any drum machine or sampler that reads 24 bit WAV files, and we've included a few patches to the most common pieces of drum software. The multi-velocity pack also includes 830 MIDI drum loops covering a variety of genres. This pack is a great choice for those who want multiple velocity articulations.

The Single Hits pack  is similar to the multi-velocity pack but provides three velocities of each articulation. This pack includes patches for Battery 3, Kontakt 5, EXS24 (Logic 9), Maschine, Geist, Studio One's Impact Soundset, Ableton Drum Rack, iDrum, Reason Refills and Renoise but if you run any legacy drum machines such as Akai MPC60s this pack may be ideal as we include 24 bit and 16 bit WAVs. This pack comes loaded with 291 samples.

The Drum Replacement pack  is our sample replacement pack. This pack comes with three different patches - Slate Trigger V2, Drumagog V5 & V4 and DrumXchanger. Each patch uses different amounts of samples depending on the capability of the software. If you run any of these pieces of software then this pack is for you.

The One Shot Pack is our latest pack. This one is real simple and is a great way of getting to know the sound of the kit. All we include in this is one sample from each articulation and that is it. No patches or multi-velocities. Great for drum machines and getting to know the sound. If you bought any pack of the Slingerland kit you will receive this pack for free.
